About Debtor Education
Springboard offers the EOUST-approved Taking Control Debtor Education Program.
This 12-chapter course covers the basics of money management, budgeting, and the proper use of credit. It is designed to meet the debtor education requirements set forth by the Executive Office for U.S. Trustees (EOUST).

The Taking Control Debtor Education Program is available to clients in three ways:- Telephone Classes: The course is taught by a certified counselor via telephone and is two hours in length. Each client will be registered, mailed a handbook and given a unique pass code to call in. A computer or internet access is not required. A certificate will be issued upon completion of the program.
- Internet: The course may be taken via the Internet and takes two hours to complete. Each client must be registered and will be sent instructions on how to access the online course. A computer and internet access is required. A certificate will be issued upon completion of the course.
- Classroom: (California locations only) The course is taught by a certified counselor in classroom setting and is two hours in length. Each client will be registered and must provide identification at the time of attendance. A computer or internet access is not required, and a certificate will be issued upon completion of the course.
The combination of The Taking Control Debtor Education Program provided through Springboard
and the ongoing support of our trained and certified credit counselors
provides clients with their best chance to understand their
situation, correct it, and better manage debt in
the future.
Note: The Taking Control course will soon be made available in Spanish and will be supported by Spanish speaking counselors.
